New ERLAND COOPER single

Still

Scottish composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Erland Cooper released a new single today. “Warming (Mvt. 5)” is the second song op his upcoming “the Folded Landscapes (Piano EP)” which will be released on the 3rd of November. The recordings on this piano version of Folded Landscapes were mixed with the echo captured from inside glacial caves of Norway. Rather than take a piano to a glacier, he took the acoustic of the space back to his studio with the use of some fieldrecordings. Erland Cooper is playing Leuven and Hasselt in November, in support of the new Illuminine album release. All information van be found here.

DISORIENTATIONS share new single “Drift”

Disorientations, the Antwerp-based postpunk trio, shared their new single “Drift”. Since the release of their debut album Memory Lanes (2022), the band dove into long jam sessions to find the perfect sound and musical direction. Drift is the first song that embodied that new musical direction. It embraces their harsh emotional sound, the raw rhythmic power and the captivating vocals with more adventurous songwriting. Check out the new single and upcoming live dates for Disorientations on the artist page.

Credit photo_Victoria Backzynska

Six years after their last studio album, Taylor Kirk’s Canadian band Timber Timbre finally releases a new
record, Lovage – his most accomplished and engrossing album to date.

Lovage is an album marrying perverted piano ballads and spiritual jazz interludes on islands of exotica and psyche-prog with spectoresque girl-group cabaret. Recorded in 2022 in Quebec with Mike Dubue (Hilotrons), the album features Olivier Fairfield (Fet Nat, Andy Shauf) and members of the Voices of Praise gospel choir (Howe Gelb). Sonically, a return to form following the glossy Sincerely, Future Pollution, the album is out now on Timber Timbre’s own Hot Dreams Records and [Integral].

Timber Timbre is playing SONIC CITY Festival in Kortrijk on Sunday November 12th.

No Fixed Point in Space, new MODERN NATURE album out now!

No Fixed Point In Space is the third full album by Modern Nature, Jack Cooper’s most recent musical playground. The new album keeps the same adventurous path like on the previous Modern Nature albums, described as “music that hasn’t been heard before”.

“With this record,” Cooper explains, “I wanted the music to reflect nature: beginnings and endings, arrivals and departures, process and chance. I wanted the music and the words to feel like roots, branches, mycelium, the intricacies of a dawn chorus, neurons firing, the unknown.”

“Songs that are impossibly moving… refreshingly human, engagingly communal and ultimately convivial… Natural magic.” – The Wire

No Fixed Point In Space is released on Belle Union and available on all music platforms. There are some dates planned for the UK for 2023 but much more to come in 2024!
All concerts can be found on his page.

BLONDE REDHEAD releases “Sit Down for Dinner”

It has been nearly a decade since Blonde Redhead, the NYC based band around Kazu Makino and Italian twin brothers Amedeo and Simone Pace, released their last album. Today they release Sit Down for Dinner, an 11 track album, probably their warmest and most welcoming music yet.

Releasing Sit Down for Dinner in its 30th year, Blonde Redhead’s perseverance partially came in realizing that the process of making the record should necessarily be fun. “Usually I agonize and it’s painful for me to write music, but on this one, I didn’t suffer as much,” says Makino. “I wanted to put my foot down and say: we can have a nice time together. The record sounds quite optimistic.”

Out on all platforms! If you want a copy on vinyl, you can order it at our Guided By Records shop.

The band is doing a tour later this fall. The Botanique (Brussels) is sold-out, but there are still tickets left for De Zwerver (Leffinge, BE) and Paradiso (Amsterdam, NL).
Check out the dates at the Blonde Redhead page.
