After rising to become the talk of the town in their home country over the past year, TJE is now aiming for nothing less than an international breakthrough. Helping their cause is their debut album ‘SCHADE’, which De Morgen, among others, has named one of the must-hear albums of 2026. Available to buy and stream since March 27.

TJE consists of Lindy Versyck (vocals), Melvin Slabbinck (guitar, drums), and Klaas Leyssen (bass), who also explore other musical horizons alongside TJE: Versyck regularly appears with Arsenal and Meltheads, Slabbinck drums for Kaat Van Stralen, and Leyssen fronts punkrockband The Yummy Mouths. Add to that Pieter-Jan Decraene, a key figure in the creative process as co-writer and producer of their debut album. He could be called the band’s unofficial fourth member. Together, they fuse their musical backgrounds and influences into a unique sound that is as infectious as it is hard to define. Sitting at the intersection of intensity and vulnerability, TJE sounds both raw and layered, constantly seeking tension between melody and experimentation. Balancing electronics, melancholic avant-pop, and experimental post-rock, with a strong focus on atmosphere and emotion. They create a melting pot that trulyworks, translating live into an intense, hypnotic, and memorable experience. Just ask audiences at Best Kept Secret, Lokerse Feesten, Reeperbahn, Fifty Lab, and Left of the Dial, where they delivered impressive performances throughout 2025.

TJE’s story began in 2023 with the EP IDOLS and quickly gained momentum with a third-place finish at Humo’s Rock Rally a few months later. International steps soon followed: after a successful appearance at showcase festival Focus Wales, they added a mini UK tour to their schedule. Singles ‘This Is’ and ‘Always Hardening’ (both featured on the album) paved the way to airplay on Radio 1 and Studio Brussel, influential indie stations in France and the Netherlands, and major streaming platforms. TJE also landed the Spotify cover of Indie Update. Their hypnotic basslines, pulsating electronics, and Versyck’s captivating voice, somewhere between a dreamy yet ominous Björk and FKA Twigs, have clearly struck a chord.

That same atmosphere, the balance between tension and emotional depth, defines ‘SCHADE’, which opens with the instrumental ‘Verlangen’ and ‘Easy’, another advance single. The band’s DNA is perhaps most evident in ‘Supernatural’: a sharp interplay between fragile emotion and organic elements, shifting between folky lo-fi pop, crunchy ambient textures, and sleek indie art pop, once again wrapped in those mesmerizing vocals. The more intimate ‘Hollow’ and the heavier ‘The Well’ come closest to straightforward indie pop songs, though both still carry a distinctive TJE twist. Other highlights include ‘Stillend’ (performed in Dutch) and the grand ‘Sidewalk’, which bounces in all directions for a powerful burst of energy.

With a minimal set of instruments, TJE achieves maximum impact, pushing those instruments to their limits in search of dissonance andmusical friction. They succeed brilliantly on a debut that is set to leave its mark on 2026. SCHADE arrived on March 27, with releaseshows that took place April 26 at AB and May 2 at Rotown/V11 in Rotterdam.
