Born in Vancouver, to a Serbian family, but relocating to Montreal to attend university, Dana Gavanski originally planned to pursue a career in film. However, following a chance encounter with a guitar left in her apartment by an ex boyfriend, Danaโs attention turned to music. In 2019, Dana signed with Full Time Hobby and released her debut-album โYesterday Is Goneโ in March 2020, where it received critical acclaim and (further) support from BBC 6 Music. โLate Slapโ, released in April 2024, is Danaโs third album and deals with themes of the tension between cynicism and despair, and openness and trust. A record where Dana found her true sound.
