Your Heart Breaks is an Indie rock band from Seattle, Washington. They play pop music, tell stories, and tour the world spreading their own language of identity. Hot debate points include the following topics: queercore & hot makeout parties. the place where unicorn and pegasus combine into one. corndogs [2 for 99 cents] pinata parties. dancing up front at all-ages shows. sharing the mic. monkeys, the squirrels of south america. & squirrels, the monkeys of north america. and a severe case of ocean waves.

The band was formed in 1998 in Bellingham, Washington by Clyde Petersen, a young genderqueer punk rocker with an affinity for the Weakerthans and bad Emo haircut. At the time, the band also included Danielle Morgan on typewriter, guitar, and clarinet and Jamilah Bourdon on drums. After several lo-fi cassette and CD-R releases, Anacortes multi-instrumentalist Karl Blau (K records) was roped into playing the drums, cutting the hair, and producing the albums. For several years, the band toured as a three piece with Steve Moore (Sunn O))), Earth, Sufjan Stevens, Bill Frisell) on Wurlitzer and trombone.

Since then, Your Heart Breaks has toured the world with such wonderful bands as Kimya Dawson, Laura Veirs, Angelo Spencer, Madeline Adams, Defiance Ohio and Nana Grizol. We’ve partied the stage with Indie greats like Sleater-Kinney, The Lucksmiths and The Mountain Goats, and a million other amazing bands. We love life. We love playing music. We love shows.

The current album line-up is Clyde Petersen on guitar, Theo Hilton (Nana Grizol, Defiance Ohio, Music Tapes) on guitar and drums, Jared Gandy on bass (Nana Grizol, Witches), and Karl Blau (K records, Laura Veirs, Mirah, Mount Eerie, D+) on guitar, drums, sax and mixing board.
