Junior Thomas hails from Minneapolis and has found inspiration from his early youth by a number of reggae and Jamaican artists like David Barker, The Bleechers, The Wailers, Phyllis Dillon and Alton Ellis. A few years ago he came into contact with Brian Dixon, former member of the Aggrolites. After a couple of musical sessions it turned they shared a passion and love for soulful reggae. They started a band called The Volcanos. Next to them the band consists of a group of befriended musicians with a similar passion. These musicians made tracks by playing with acts like The Aggrolites, Jimmy Cliff, Hepcat and on the debut album of Rancid singer Tim Armstrong.
The debut album of Jr. Thomas & The Volcanos was recorded in Volcano Lounge in Los Angeles and will be released through the Truth & Soul Records label. Junior Thomas & The Volcanos bring an ode to the ‘golden era’ of Jamaican music, yet with a repertoire of their own: a large dose of reggae and soul. Recommended to fans of both reggae and soul music.
