Imaginary Family is the moniker of Joanna Isselé. Joanna, born in the French Alps and currently residing in Ghent, Belgium. In her music, she combines elements of folk and indie rock, yet it is her clear and poignant voice that stands out. Her unusual playing style – she is left-handed but plays a right-handed guitar upside down – helps define her sound: melancholic and evocative. For her first album, Builders, Believers, Joanna Isselé collaborated with producer Pieter Van Dessel (Marble Sounds).

The album received favorable reviews and has already been named one of the best albums of the moment by the magazine Humo. The album marks a return to the music scene after a long break, during which she earned a PhD in neuroscience and taught programming courses. Previously, Imaginary Family had already released a succesful debut EP, Hidden. Imaginary Family toured in Belgium and the Netherlands and shared the stage with Oscar & The Wolf, Isbells and Marble Sounds, among others. Additionally, she recorded songs with Amatorski and Hydrogen Sea.
