Elias Devoldere is more than just one of the most dynamic drummers on the Belgian scene. In recent years, he established himself as a songwriter, singer and guitarist. With the release of his solo debut album, Bloomed > Exploded (2023), he added producer to that list.

Over the years, we got to know Elias as the drummer of Nordmann, Eefje de Visser, Das Pop, Hypochristmutreefuzz & Robbing Millions, among many others. Following the release of the EP Kaiku (2021), Bloomed > Exploded marked his debut full-length album as a solo artist. It is an intimate coming-of-age record built around intangible atmospheres, crisp melodies and understated rhythmic patterns—an album that received warm praise from the Belgian press. ’Pure’, that’s how Bruno Ellingham, the UK engineer who mixed the album, described it. Much to the delight of Elias, who reached out to Ellingham because of his previous work with bands such as Massive Attack and Portishead.

Elias’ sonic landscape is an artful fusion of oblique electronics, beat-driven art pop, melancholic alternative rock, and club-inspired rhythms, crafting an experience that is both dark and hopeful. His artistic vision continues to evolve: Elias is currently recording his second full-length album, which is expected to be released in autumn 2027.
