Crowd of chairs is a Belgian noise rock/postpunk band from Ghent. Rooted in the city’s underground scene, the band operates out of Artspace 019 and is part of the Labelman family. The lineup features guitarist/vocalist Mitch Van Laecke, guitarist Arjen Verswijfelt, drummer/vocalist Manu Mahie, and bassist Benjamin Caes.

Formed in 2014, Crowd Of Chairs quickly caught the attention of national promoters and became one of Belgium’s most exciting alternative rock acts. Their sound draws inspiration from bands like Liars (US), Metz (CAN), and Part Chimp (UK).

The band has also made an international impact, performing across France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, including supporting Pile (US) on their EU/UK tour.

Always pushing boundaries, Crowd Of Chairs released their fourth album Breather in Spring 2025, which received critical acclaim and spent several weeks in Humo’s Top 10 New Albums chart. The album led to high-profile appearances at showcase festivals such as Left of the Dial (NL) and Sonic City (BE). In January 2026, the band entered the studio with Michael Neyt (Wiegedood, Vaag, Siem Reap) and will release new music later this year.

“Breather – a record packed with relentless post-punk grooves, chainsaw guitars, and vocals that, neck muscles taut, scream into a rigid, ruthless world.” – HUMO

“A fitting title for the album. I can imagine plenty of people who, while listening to this 38-minute record, repeatedly find themselves gasping for breath. It’s not even about the volume at which you have to absorb this little gem – it’s the uncontrolled energy, the complexity of those frenetic drum parts and the sheer drive that leave nothing but pure chaos in your head.” – OOR
