BEVERLY began as a recording project between Drew Citron and Frankie Rose, two California natives who met in New York. Rose released several celebrated solo records after departing seminal NYC dreampop outfit Vivian Girls, and Citron toured as a member of her band as well as Pains of Being Pure at Heart. In 2014 the two bashed out a stripped down record that sounds like a 60’s girl group with distorted guitars, engineered in part by Jonny Schenke (Parquet Courts). Their critically acclaimed debut Careers came out last summer on Kanine Records; it combines raw pop, post-punk, and dreamy harmonies, drawing inspiration from lo-fi greats such as The Amps and The Clean.

After completing the record, Rose moved to LA to concentrate on her solo career, and Citron stayed in New York to focus on Beverly. For live shows, Citron expanded the line up to four members, embarking on tours across the US and Europe opening for The Drums, and playing sold-out headline dates in and around New York.

When not on tour, Citron produces up and coming bands in Brooklyn, most recently Scully, whose first single comes out this summer as a split 7″ with La Luz (produced by Ty Segall) on Famous Class. For the new Beverly full length, Citron is collaborating with tour mates Kip Berman (Pains of Being Pure at Heart) and noise pop producer Scott Rosenthal (The Beets, Crystal Stilts).
